Vanagon-Subaru Donor Vehicle Parts Checklist

Please note: From our experience and the experiences of dozens of our customers, we strongly recommend that the engine, harness and ECU all come from the same car!

4 Cylinder 2.2 & 2.5L 1990-2004

  1. Engine Complete. Engine should include:
    1. Flywheel (for M/T Vanagons only)
    2. P/S Pump
    3. Alternator
    4. AC Compressor
    5. All Vent Hoses
    6. Engine Harness
    7. Oil Pan
  2. Manual Starter (for M/T Vanagons only)
  3. Engine to ECU Harness (uncut) Including Wiring to both oxygen sensors
  4. ECU Engine Brain Box
  5. Power supply Relay W/Bracket
  6. Fuel Pump Relay
  7. Oxygen Sensors (2)
  8. Make sure the oxygen sensors plug into the harness as there is often a sub-harness used
  9. Air Intake Tube (air flow meter to throttle body)
  10. Air Flow Meter - where fitted
  11. Air Cleaner Box
  12. Alternator Harness (4 feet of harness) Also has A/C wires attached.
  13. AC Hoses to and from Compressor (2)
  14. Cruise Control Servo (May not fit the Vanagon depending on the year of the Subaru)
  15. Catalytic Converters (If you plan on using these)
  16. Pressure sensor & switching solenoid (located on right front strut tower.
    Some models do not have one or both of these)

SVX 1992-1996 3.3L

  1. Engine Complete. Engine should include:
    1. P/S Pump
    2. Alternator
    3. AC Compressor
    4. All Vent Hoses
    5. Engine Harness
    6. Intact Belt Covers (please inspect carefully)
    7. Oil Pan
    8. Flywheel (for M/T Vanagons only)
    9. Oil Pan
  2. Manual Starter (for M/T Vanagons only)
  3. Engine to ECU Harness (uncut) Including Wiring to Oxygen
  4. Sensors (they are often cut)
  5. Oxygen Sensors (2 or 3 on later models)
  6. ECU Engine Brain Box
  7. Power supply Relay W/Bracket
  8. Fuel Pump Relay
  9. Air Intake Tube (air flow meter to throttle body)
  10. Air Flow Meter
  11. Air Cleaner Box
  12. Air Intake Noise Muffler (inside the fender)
  13. Motor Top Cover H6 Logo-Subaru (with plastic clips)
  14. Igniter with Bracket
  15. Alternator Harness (4 feet of harness) Also has A/C wires attached.
  16. AC Hoses to and from Compressor (2)
  17. Cruise control servo with cable and bracket.

WRX 2.0L Turbo 2002-2005

  1. Engine Complete. Engine should include:
    1. P/S Pump
    2. Alternator
    3. AC Compressor
    4. All Vent Hoses
    5. Engine Harness
    6. Intact Belt Covers
    7. Oil Pan
  2. Engine to ECU Harness (uncut) Including Wiring to both Oxygen
    Sensors (Note, the WRX harness comes in two sections)
    1. ECU Engine Brain Box
    2. Power supply Relay W/Bracket
    3. Fuel Pump Relay
    4. Oxygen Sensors (2)
  3. Manual Starter (for M/T Vanagons only)
  4. Intercooler with connecting hoses
  5. Air Cleaner Box with air flow meter
  6. Alternator Harness (4 feet of harness) Also has A/C wires attached.
  7. AC Hoses to and from Compressor (2)
  8. Fuel pump controller with 24" of wire and connector (located in right rear pass comp)
  9. Turbo duty solenoid (mounted on bracket on strut tower)

2001-2004 3.0L

  1. Engine complete, including:
    1. P/S Pump
    2. Alternator
    3. AC Compressor
    4. All Vent Hoses
    5. Engine Harness
    6. Oil Pan
    7. Engine mounts
  2. Manual Starter (for M/T Vanagons only)
  3. Engine to ECU Harness (uncut)
  4. ECU
  5. Power supply Relay W/Bracket (attached to harness)
  6. Fuel Pump Relay (in harness)
  7. Fuel pump controller with 24" of wire and connector, 03 & 04 models only (located in right rear of vehicle)
  8. Oxygen Sensors (3)
  9. Air Intake Tube (air cleaner to throttle body)
  10. Air Cleaner Box
  11. Alternator Harness (4 feet of harness) Also has A/C wires attached.
  12. AC Hoses to and from Compressor (2)
  13. Upper radiator hoses (2)

2005-2007 Impreza & Forester

  1. Engine Complete. Engine should include:
    1. Flywheel (for M/T Vanagons only)
    2. P/S Pump
    3. Alternator
    4. AC Compressor
    5. All Vent Hoses
    6. Engine Harness
    7. Oil Pan
  2. Manual Starter (for M/T Vanagons only)
  3. Engine to ECU Harness (uncut) Including Wiring to both oxygen sensors and the accelerator position sensor
  4. ECU Engine Brain Box
  5. Power supply Relay W/Bracket
  6. Fuel Pump Relay
  7. Throttle control relay
  8. Oxygen sensor/air flow relay  
  9. Oxygen Sensors (2)
  10. Make sure the oxygen sensors plug into the harness as there is often a sub-harness used
  11. Air Intake Tube (air flow meter to throttle body)
  12. Mass air meter (MAF)
  13. Air Cleaner Box
  14. Alternator Harness (4 feet of harness) Also has A/C wires attached.
  15. AC Hoses to and from Compressor (2)
  16. Accelerator pedal (accelerator position sensor)
